 David Adkins, President of ALS, has
enjoyed the aquarium hobby for most of his life. He can recall one of his first freshwater setups that contained a mated pair of
angelfish, it was the "in thing" back then.
In 1988, as a member of the Cleveland Saltwater Enthusiasts Association (CSEA), David assisted in the development of the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America, or MACNA. Soon after, the Marine Aquarium Societies Of North America, or MASNA, was formed to co-ordinate MACNA functions and David served as a MASNA delegate to inform members of C-SEA at their monthly meetings as to the discussions that had taken place after each BOD meeting. David now serves as C-SEA's treasurer and continue in his role as the C-SEA MASNA delegate. David was also a member of the MASNA Board of Directors for 4 terms. Yet, it was the spring of 1998, after 10 years as an aquatic lighting designer and consultant for a major lighting distributor, that David made his greatest contribution to the Marine Aquarium Hobby. He embarked on a venture and journey in building Aquarium Lighting and Supply. Back then the industry was still in it's infancy and independent retailers and hobbyists alike were hard pressed to find quality products. As a wholesale distributor specializing in aquarium lighting and equipment, David is truly an old-timer who shares his knowlege and experience while offering quality products . |
